About Ellen Portilla
Ellen Elizabeth Portilla was raised in Thousand Oaks, California and has always loved to draw and paint! She took a serious interest in art when she was accepted into the Advanced Placement Art class at Thousand Oaks High School. She was then accepted to the prestigious art school, Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Ellen majored in Communication Design, specializing in illustration and graphic design. She had the honor of being an intern in the illustration department at “The New Yorker” Magazine in New York City. This exciting internship exposed her to the commercial art world and set her up for her long term job doing graphics for L.A. radio. Ellen currently does freelance graphic design and displays and sells her fine art paintings.
Ellen has been teaching computer and art to elementary children part time for 7+ years. She enjoys teaching the kids about the elements of art, as well as highlighting some old art masters.
